Riviera Bermuda Grass: New Riviera turf type bermudagrass outperforms all vegetative hybrid bermudagrass (most similar to Tifway 419 in appearance and performance) and seed cultivars. Riviera is a new high quality turf type bermudagrass that can be planted by seed. In the recent National Turfgrass Evaluation Trials it outperformed the vegetative hybrids and seed for the following attributes:

  • #1 for overall turgrass quality
  • #1 spring greenup
  • #1 percent living ground cover in spring
  • #1 drought tolerance
  • #1 leaf texture
  • #1 seedling vigor
  • #1 spring density
Riviera Bermuda Grass

Riviera is also an excellent choice for planting in colder areas where bermudagrass is not known to survive. Finally, a seed bermuda that can be planted in areas with hard winter freezes. Riviera can be used on putting greens as well like Princess 77 bermuda grass; however, both Princess 77 and Riviera perform best if mowed between 1/2" - 2". For healthy turf, do not remove more than 1/3 of the leaf blade each time. More frequent mowing at shorter heights will result in a finer, more dense turf.

Seeding Rate & Planting Time:

  • New turf: 2 - 3 pounds per 1,000 square feet
  • Plant when soil temperature reaches 65 degrees in spring up until a minimum of 6 weeks before frost in fall
