LazyMan™ Products Q & A

Questions & Answers Regarding LazyMan™ Liquid Gold & Other Products

Question: Do you need to irrigate after applying LazyMan? Answer:That depends on how you are applying the LazyMan product. If you are applying with a hose-end sprayer at a rate of 2 ounces per gallon, then you are applying plenty of water during the application process. If you are simply spraying on the LazyMan product with a hand-held or backpack sprayer with not much additional water, then you should water the area for about 15 minutes after applying the product unless it is raining or will be raining within about 1 week.

Question: Can you use tap water?
Answer: Yes. Although natural rainfall is always best for lawns and gardens, you can certainly use tap water to dilute the product with and water in afterwards.

Question: Can I apply LazyMan products before seeding my lawn?
Answer: Yes. You can apply the LazyMan Liquid Gold, Aerator, and Dethatcher all right before seeding, during seeding, or after seeding. The only effect you get from LazyMan products is positive and beneficial to young seedlings.

Question: What about sodium laden water?
Answer: If you have high sodium content in your soil (usually from your water source,) sodium causes compaction, and it also reduces nutrient absorption by the plant. Sodium is positively charged, while clay is negatively charged, so the sodium smashes the clay together. LazyMan grabs onto the sodium and displaces it to a lower level so that it is below the plant root zone. That is a benefit you will never get from mechanical aeration!

Question: What is the pH of the products?
Answer: The pH of LazyMan Gold, Dethatcher, & Conditioner ranges from 7.2 to 7.5 so it is virtually neutral. Products containing inferior humic acids will actually have a pH of 8 - 12 which can actually be harmful to plants.

Question: Why couldn't you just use gypsum to loosen the soil?
Answer: Although gypsum has been shown to help compacted soil, it is a very slow process. It can take two to three years to notice significant improvement by using gypsum. The LazyMan Liquid Gold also has the adding benefit of microbial dethatching, kelp, and mycorrhizae which all improves your soil.

Question: How does the LazyMan Liquid Gold provide aeration, dethatching, and conditioning?
Answer: The LazyMan Liquid Gold is a remarkable product. It is a proprietary blend of positively and negatively (also hydrophilic and hydrophobic) charged polymers which are very large molecules. These molecules fight each other as they weave their way through the soil creating air space and flocculating the soil as well as pushing sodium to lower layers to reduce compaction. Along with this proprietary blend, Gold has over 40 microbes that love to feed on dead plant tissue (thatch). These microbes attach themselves to thatch and start feeding on the dead plant tissue. This process breaks down thatch into organic matter. Not only do you get the composite activity of the aeration and dethatching which conditions the soil, you also have the addition of humic acids, kelp, and mycorrhizae to the soil. This whole process gives you a synergistic effect and helps condition the soil. If your soil is in very poor condition and you need to add a lot of organic matter, then you would want to purchase our LazyMan Liquid Soil Conditioner separately and put it down at a least 1 quart per 1,000 square feet. You CAN NOT over do it. We have customers that have put 2 1/2 gallons on their 1,000 square foot lawn and had great results. The soil conditioner is 100% organic liquid compost so it is great for your lawn, garden, and flowerbeds.

Question: How often do you have to apply each product?
Answer: This depends on the starting point of your soil; however there are general guidelines. The Liquid Gold and Aerator are a very large molecule products and doesn't break down easily. We recommend one initial application, followed by another application 6 weeks later. Depending on environmental factors, these initial treatments can last up to one year. If you are using the Liquid Dethatcher and Conditioner products seperately you can use them as needed. You CAN NOT over apply the products and could use them every month if you desire to.

Question: What is humic acid?
Answer: Humic acids are simply the decomposed remains of plants, animals, and marine life. The decomposed organic material resulted in leonardite formations or highly concentrated sources of humus. In a sense, humic acid is humus from Mother Nature’s own compost pile.

  1. Humic acids are valuable in soil regeneration, restoration, and in bioremediation.
  2. Humic acids destroy harsh chemicals introduced into the enviroment that are harmful to the soil and plants.
  3. In the soil, humic acids can increase the microbial and mycorrhizal activity while enhancing the nutrient uptake by plant roots.
  4. Humasol (contains both humic and fulvic acids) is the key to healthy plants and soil and it is organic, natural, water soluble, and contains high levels of both humic and fulvic acids.

Question: Can fertilizer be mixed in when you apply?
Answer: Yes. However, the preferred method is to wait two weeks either before or after using LazyMan Liquid Gold, Aerator, Dethatcher, or Conditioner unless you are using an organic fertilizer.

Question: What test results do you have on your products?
Answer: We have had a lot of research done of the past several years on our LazyMan products and will continue to do more. Please refer to our "Research Data" link on all LazyMan pages.

Question: What is the coverage per bottle?
Answer: LazyMan Liquid Gold, Aerator, and Dethatcher will all cover up to 10,000 square feet for one quart bottle on follow up treatments. The first application should be applied at 6 ounces per 1,000 square feet which will cover 5,000 square feet. LazyMan Soil Conditioner has many application rates depending on the desired application. Please see specific page for application rates.

Question: Do these products help with brown spots caused by dog urine?
Answer: Yes. If you read scientific articles on brown spots caused by dog urine you will find the only two things you can do is to continually water the spots after urination and improve soil aeration. Improving soil aeration is the easiest thing you can do to help avoid those dog urine spots and the products will also help bind up the harmful salts that are found in the dog urine.

Question: What are other LazyMan products?
Answer: LazyMan also carries 3-18-18 Liquid Fertilizer, and 13-2-3 Liquid Fertilizer.

Question: What mycorrhizae are in the LazyMan Liquid Gold, Aerator, & Conditioner and what percentage of plants would benefit?
Answer: These LazyMan products contain "broad spectrum" endo and ecto mycorrhizae which will benefit approximately 96% of all plants.

Question: Are there any dangers with over applying?
Answer: No. These products are not like fertilizer where over applying can cause severe burning and even kill plants. These products are not "bioaccumulative" and will not build up in plants. They will NOT harm any type of plant or grass.

Question: What is the shelf life of the products?
Answer: It is recommended the products be used within two years after purchase.
