Premier Deer Blend Food Plot Seed

Deer Food Plot

This nutritous and highly palatable, all-perennial, Premiere Deer Blend mix will bring the deer in to graze on this food plot. This is our own deer food plot seed blend so you are not paying for the marketing of Imperial and Tecomate products. Same quality product without the high price. Works well across the entire U.S. (may need irrigation in deep south to keep green over summer months).

Contains these approximate percentages:

  • 20% Forage Fescue
  • 20% Smooth Brome
  • 20% Red Clover
  • 10% New Zealand White Clover
  • 20% Alfalfa
  • 10% Birdsfoot Trefoil

A deep-rooted, long-lived perennial bunchgrass. Thick stands will produce a tough sod if mowed or grazed. Vigorous, grows well on wet and dry soils. Tolerant of poor drainage, is also drought resistant; tolerant of both strongly acidic and strongly alkaline soils. Yields well in areas of at least 18 inches of annual rainfall. Produces abundantly with irrigation and high fertility. Best seeded with legumes (which are already in this deer food plot seed blend) for added palatability and nutrition levels. While a vigorous plant, new seedings are somewhat slow to establish. Should not be grazed too soon, and not the first winter. Adapted to wide range of climatic conditions. Fawn variety has more spring vigor, more palatable, and produced more forage.

Smooth Brome is a leafy sod-forming perennial which spreads by underground rhizomes. Forage quality compares well with other forage grasses. Palatability and nutritive value rank very high for a deer food plot. Used extensively for hay and deer food plots.

Often used in deer feed plots because of their high nutritive value. Deer and many other animals love to brunch on these two clovers and blended together with the brome and birdsfoot trefoil it will be the perfect mix for your deer food plot. The deer will feed on this for hours.

Alfalfa is most productive on loamy soils, well-drained, with good moisture holding capacity or with adequate irrigation. Performs best at pH levels at 6.5 or higher. Alfalfa also attracts deer, turkey, and rabbit. Very high in protein and animals love it.

Birdsfoot Trefoil is a long-lived, deep-rooted perennial forage legume is used for pasture, hay and silage. It grows on many different soil types, from sandy loams to clays. It accepts poorly drained, droughty, infertile, acid or mildly alkaline soils. Most productive on fertile, well-drained soils with a pH of 6.2-6.5 or higher. The nutritive value equals that of alfalfa, and there is no apparent problem from bloat, evern where pure stands are grazed. Birdsfoot trefoil should be seeded with grasses (there are already grasses in this deer food plot seed mixture) for optimum forage production such as: timothy, smooth brome, orchardgrass, tall fescue, and perennial ryegrass. Also attracts deer, turkey, and rabbit.
