Brachycome

Brachycome (Brachycome Iberidifolia Blue Splendor) - Also known as Swan River Daisy, this sweet little flower establishes easily from flower seed. Brachycome is perfect for containers and hanging baskets as it spills gracefully over the edges. Brachycome Blue Splendor is covered with masses of brilliant blue daisy blooms, and it has an attractive ferny foliage that grows in a mounding habit. Grown in full to part sun, Brachycome daisy plants will reach 8 - 10 inches and bloom from early summer until fall.

In early spring, sow Brachycome seeds on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays. Keep flower seed moist until germination. Transplant seedlings after danger of frost has passed. Swan River Daisy seeds can also be started directly outside in a prepared seedbed after temperature warm. Pinch the growing tips to encourage a bushier growth habit. Deadheading the Brachycome Swan River Daisy plant helps ensure continuous blooms. A shearing after a full flush of blooms stimulates more blooming.

Floriferous Annual

Brachycome is a prolific bloomer, tending to cover itself almost completely with blooms during the growing season.

Brachycome

Brachycome (Brachycome Iberidifolia Mix) - Sow Brachycome flower seeds to produce this lovely, versatile plant for the garden. Sometimes called Swan River Daisy, Brachycome Iberidifolia is a fast growing flower that will add dimension to your early spring garden. Globe-shaped plants produce numerous daisy-like flowers in a mix of colors including: blue, pink, and white. The flowers form on top of attractive fern-like foliage creating a cloud of soft color. Brachycome plants look especially lovely spilling over the sides of containers or over the ledge of a rock wall. In the flower border, Brachycome Swan River Daisy is a good choice for filling in around tall, leggy plants and carpeting bare spots.

In early spring 6 - 8 weeks before the end of frost season, sow Brachycome flower seeds on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays. Keep flower seed moist until germination. Transplant seedlings after danger of frost has passed. Swan River Daisy seeds can also be started directly outdoors once danger of frost has passed. Trimming the Brachycome plant after a full flush of blooms helps ensure continuous blooming.
