Morning Glory (Ipomoea Tricolor Flying Saucers) - What a spectacular sight! Grown from Morning Glory flower seeds, this Flying Saucer variety is a fast growing vine shooting up to 180 inches, and it has huge 5 inch blossoms of sky blue with white streaks in a pinwheel pattern. This Morning Glory has a tropical-like foliage, and it looks great falling from window boxes and planters or climbing up a trellis. Flying Saucer will bloom from summer until first frost, and it will bloom more abundantly in cooler weather. The flowers open in the morning and close in the evening.
Growing Morning Glory Flying Saucer from flower seed is easy. Because they have a hard seed coat, nicking the seed coat with a knife tip or rubbing seeds with a piece of sandpaper will improve germination. After nicking the seeds, place them in a bowl and soak overnight in warm water.
Seeds can be planted directly outdoors in any reasonably good garden soil that receives at least six hours of bright light during the day. Sow Ipomoea flower seeds after all danger of frost has passed, 6 - 8 seeds per foot. Thin to 12 inches apart. To get a jumpstart in the spring, seeds can be planted indoors in a container and then transplanted outdoors when they have 2 - 3 leaves.
