Morning glories are prolific bloomers and will bloom until frost. They are also liberal self-seeders, dropping their own flower seeds for next year's display. Growing Morning Glory Royal Ensign from flower seed is easy. Because they have a hard seed coat, nicking the seed coat with a knife tip or rubbing seeds with a piece of sandpaper will improve germination. After nicking the seeds, place them in a bowl and soak overnight in warm water.
Morning glory seeds can be planted directly outdoors in any reasonably good garden soil that receives at least six hours of bright light during the day.
