Obedient plant flower seed, also known as False Dragonhead, is a compact, erect, clump-forming but rhizomatous perennial which typically grows 1-2' tall on stiff, square stems and features dense spikes of rich pink, tubular, two-lipped, snapdragon-like flowers which bloom throughout the summer. Blooms from bottom to top on each spike. Narrow, lance-shaped, sharp-toothed leaves (to 4" long). Makes a great cut flower. Genus members are commonly called obedient plants because each individual flower will, upon being pushed in any one direction, temporarily remain in the new position as if it were hinged.
Obedient Plant flower seed is easily grown in average, medium wet, well-drained soil in full sun. Obedient Plant's have a compact form with less tendency to flop than other cultivars of this species. Divide every 2-3 years to control growth. Dont' fertilize unless the plant shows signs of needing more nutrients. Less fertilizer means less aggressive spreading. You will want to deadhead to encourage more blooms and also to slow down the reseeding.
