Characteristics: Panda zoysia is a warm-season grass. Its leaf texture ranges from medium to medium coarse. Color ranges from light to medium green. Panda zoysia forms a dense, low maintenance lawn which spreads by stolons and rhizomes and is easy to maintain.

Temperature Tolerance: Zoysia grass tolerates heat exceptionally well up to 100 degrees. It is subject to winter dormacy as it turns to a brown color at temperatures below 55 degrees. Zoysia japonica has fair cold hardiness, the best of the zoysias, but still does not have the cold tolerance of a cool season grass like Kentucky Bluegrass.

Drought Resistance: Drought resistance is moderate to good. Zoysia will remain green and resists short periods of drought. Takes heat as well or better than any other grass. Can go into summer dormancy when irrigation is withheld; upon return of moisture supply, zoysia grass will green right back up again.

Shade Adaptation: Zoysia grass has good shade adaptation for a warm season grass. It is slow growing in partial shade, but much better then other warm-season grasses.

Wear Resistance: Superior - exceptionally hardy, has the best wear resistance of any grass. Zoysia grass will tolerate heavy traffic, but is slow to recover from severe thinning.
