Ice Plant Congestum Seed

Ice Plant (Delosperma Congestum) - What a carefree yet gorgeous ground cover plant! Excellent for containers or rock gardens, grow Ice Plant from ground cover seeds and watch it thrive! This Ice Plant is marked by succulent apple green foliage and brilliant yellow flowers that open in the morning and close in the late afternoon. Delosperma makes a low growing mat that makes the perfect ground cover carpet for dry, sunny areas. This Ice Plant is native to the high altitudes of eastern South Africa, somewhere between an alpine and high desert habitat, so you know it can take the heat and sun in your garden. For a fast growing ground cover plant that beautifully softens edges, flows down slopes, and grows in pockets of rock walls, start Ice Plant ground cover seeds and reap the rewards!

Sow Delosperma seed indoors 4 - 6 weeks before last frost is predicted. Use starter trays and sterile potting mix. Press Ice Plant ground cover seeds into the soil but do not cover the seeds. Keep the seeds moist but not saturated until germination occurs. Transplant outdoors, 10 inches a part when temperatures are warmed. Find a sunny location with sandy, sharp-draining soil. In the hottest climates, Ice Plant would do well with some afternoon shade.
