Copenhagen Market Cabbage

CABBAGE, COPENHAGEN MARKET EARLY - This cabbage plant produces good yields of 3 lb cabbage. It is very flavorful and tender. Heads rarely burst. This is an heirloom vegetable that has been around since the early 1900's. Medium size cabbage is perfect for smaller home vegetable gardening. It's excellent for the table and sauerkraut.

The best known early cabbage; forms 6 inch solid heads, 2-3 weeks before large, late types. Heads weigh 2-3 pounds at maturity, an ideal size for the family refrigerator. This packet will plant approximately a 60 foot row.

PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS:
Start seed indoors 6 weeks before last killing frost in spring. When 4 inches tall, transplant outside. Or, sow directly outdoors when frost danger is well over. Place 2-3 seeds together every 1 1/2 feet. Thin to one plant every 1 1/2 feet when seedlings are 2 inches tall.

Cool weather vegetable. Plant cabbage near tomatoes and/or celery to help repel cabbage worms. Small collars placed around young plants deter cutworms.

This variety was developed by Ferry-Morse and is a splendid choice for fall harvests because that's when it's most sweet and juicy.  Takes cold weather better than most varieties. Forms compact heads weighing 3 - 5 pounds at maturity. High in vitamins A, B1, B2, and C. Large wrapper leaves protect it from autumn frosts. Maintains peak quality for months. Solid, plat-topped blue-green heads! Leaves are sweet enough for any cabbage dish, just right for cabbage rolls. Also excellent for sauerkraut.
