Nicotiana Alata is easily propagated by flower seeds, and whether grown in a container or in the landscape, this plant is very showy and easy to grow. Lime Green Nicotiana features 1 - 2 inch flowers which bloom profusely for 3 months or more on this 24 inch tall annual. The clear, lime green color is a unique addition to the garden, and it wonderfully contrasts with other plants with different colored blooms. It will attract hummingbirds, and be sure to plant it in a location where its pleasant fragrance can be enjoyed. Flowering Tobacco care includes deadheading the spent blooms and light trimming to promote more blooming. Lime Green Flowering Tobacco plants will drop their seed for next year. Another common name for green Nicotiana is Jasmine Tobacco.
Sow Nicotiana seeds indoors 6 - 8 weeks before last frost. Press the flower seeds into the starter mix, but do not cover. Or directly sow Nicotiana flower seeds outdoors after danger of frost has passed. The plant will easily bloom within 10 - 12 weeks after sowing the Jasmine Tobacco seeds. It requires average water, good soil, and balanced fertilizer during the blooming season. In many areas, if the Nicotiana plant is cut back in the fall, it will come back the next spring just like a perennial.
