Tolpis Barbata

Umbrella Milkwort (Tolpis Barbata) - Grow Tolpis Barbata seeds for a unique annual that is native to southern Europe, the Mediterranean region, and northern Africa. Known as European Umbrella Milkwort, Umbrella Milkwort, European Milkwort or Yellow Hawkweed, this daisy-like yellow flower was introduced to the United States, and it now grows in the wild in California and other southern states. The flowers are single or clustered and are bright yellow with a dark center. Tolpis is an excellent flower for a rock garden. A synonymous botanical name is Tolpis Umbellata.

Directly sow Tolpis Barbata seeds in a sunny area. Prepare a seedbed by weeding and loosening the top several inches of soil. Sow the flower seeds and lightly cover them with soil. Umbrella Milkwork plants prefer sandy or even gritty soils. Deadhead spent flowers to promote continued blooming.
