Buffalo Supreme grass seed is a two-way blend of Cody and Bowie buffalo grasses. This Buffalo Supreme grass blend is comprised
of two leading buffalo grasses on the market today designed to create a better turf density. Buffalo Supreme grass seed can be used for
natural looking golf course roughs, roadside plantings, airport landscaping, parkland, and of course home lawn where low maintenance
is desired. In fact, Buffalo Supreme grass seed can be left unmowed and will only reach a maximum height of approximately 6 inches.
Cody - Cody Buffalograss is rapidly becoming the standard by which buffalograss is measured, having established itself as a premier warmseason turfgrass. Faster establishment, higher density, lower growth rate, excellent winter hardiness, low water requirement, darker color, fine texture and a wide area of adaptation give Cody the edge as the choice for low maintenance areas. Cody buffalograss is a grass well suited for conditions of drought, high heat, high winds, and cool winters. It is a rugged grass that grows well in loam & clay soils, and not well in sandy soils. Buffalo grass is so low maintenance that some people will often only mow it a few times, or even not at all during the year.
Buffalo grass will grow best at elevations lower than about 6,500 feet and in very sunny areas. Cody buffalo grass is a turf-type seeded buffalograss developed for a diverse range of climates and geographical regions. Cody is an aggressive low maintenance, dense, fine textured buffalograss that can be established from seed. Cody excels in ease of establishment and has a broad area of adaptation.
Cody's unique development utilizing the elite seeded entries in the National Turfgrass Evaluation Program will allow it to excel in turfgrass quality over a wide range of climates and locations. Cody has shown significant improvement over other seeded varieties, particularly in the ability to establish quickly. Turfgrass quality exceeds most commercially available seeded varieties.

This Buffalo Supreme grass blend is dense enough to reduce weed encroachment, due to its excellent stolon development and some rhizomes which spread across the ground to create new buffalo grass and keep weeds out. However, if you are looking for a prairie meadow look and want to add wildflowers to your buffalo grass blend; no problem! You do not have to mow buffalo grass; however, mowing once or twice a year to remove old growth in early spring or late summer, will produce the best results and keep these low maintenance areas looking their best. For greater turf density, mow more frequently. The more you mow, the more dense the turf becomes and will produce a fairly dense sod and a high quality turf that is extremely drought and heat tolerant.
