Transform the informal border or meadow with the marvellously fragrant and long-blooming rich red plumes of Jupiter's Beard flower seed. The vibrantly-red Jupiter's Beard (Centranthus Ruber Coccineus) is an invaluable source of bright color no garden should be without! This delightful perennial is a gardener's best friend, adding plumes of vertical color 2 to 3 feet high to the middle of the border, blooming all summer above spear-shaped gray-green foliage and providing long-lasting cut flowers.

Jupiter's Beard flower seed is easy to start from seed. Approximately 1000 seeds covers 75 square feet. It should be spaced about 12 to 15 inches apart in the sunny garden (light shade is fine as well). Very long-lived, it asks only ordinary garden soil with good drainage. Once established, it is considered fairly drought tolerant. Deadheading will keep the plant flowering fuller and later into the season. If the plant stops blooming due to heat, cut the plant back by 1/3 to 1/2 to promote another round of blooms later in the summer. Jupiter's Beard is a good self-seeder.
