Foxgloves produce spires of large tubular flowers that are enchanting vertical accents in the shade garden. Their colors include cream, pink, purple, yellow and white. They bloom in late spring or early summer and if the main spike is cut, side shoots will develop and flower until September. Naturalizes easily, attracts hummingbirds. This large, very colorful plant that does extremely well in shade.
Sow in late spring to early summer outdoors in a well prepared seed bed. Sow the seeds very thinly (1/16in) in drills 12 inches apart, keep the soil damp until germination takes place and thin out the seedlings 6 inches apart when large enough to handle. Caution: toxic if eaten.
