Slipper Flower (Calceolaria Herbeohybrida Fashion Mix) - What an exceptional little annual this is! Easily grown from Slipper Flower seeds, it is an exotic plant that is a favorite of many gardeners. Well-known for its large, puffed up blooms, Calceolaria is commonly referred to by many names: Lady Slipper, Slipper Flower, Pocketbook Plant, or Slipperwort. It is a treasured flower to Victorian era gardeners with its cheerful, dotted blooms.
Slipperwort Calceolaria is compact and easy to grow from flower seeds. It is delicate preferring a cool summer with regular watering. When temperatures begin to drop, bring Slipper Flower plants indoors and find a sunny window for them to sit in. Calceolaria Lady Slipper plants need moist but well-draining soil. Water the plant at the base as water drops can permanently spot the blossoms. When grown indoors, Slipper Flower will grow as a biennial.
How To Grow Calceolaria From Seed: Sow Slipper Flower seeds indoors in small peat pots. Use quality starter mix that is well-draining. Pre-moisten the mix, sow the Calceolaria seeds on the surface but do not cover. Use a spray bottle to mist the seeds to keep them moist but not saturated.
