Larkspur (Delphinium Consolida Rose Queen) - Add to your garden another beautiful color grown from Larkspur seeds! Enjoy these tall, Larkspur rose flowers that have double blooms and last in the garden and in the vase. Nothing out blooms a Larkspur, and they are worth the effort to grow because they are so beautiful and are treasured by both home gardeners and professional cut flower growers.
Cut flower growers space Larkspur Delphinium Consolida plants quite closely (4 - 6 inches apart), and it is recommended that some type of support be given to the flower spikes (staking or netting) so that they do not bend over or break under high winds.
To aid in the germination of Larkspur seeds, place the flower seeds on a damp paper towel, seal the towel and seeds in a ziploc bag and place in the refrigerator for 1 - 2 weeks. After removing the flower seeds from the refrigerator, directly sow the Larkspur flower seeds outdoors in prepared soil, keeping the seeds moist until germination. Larkspur seeds can also be sown indoors and Larkspur seedlings transplanted outside after 8 weeks of growth. Larkspur care includes staking the tall flowers if needed, watering deeply each week, and applying a liquid fertilizer every other week during the growing season. After blooms are spent, cut back hard to encourage a second bloom later in the season. The flower seeds and Larkspur plants are poisonous so do not consume.
