With the common name of Rattlesnake Master, Eryngium Yuccifolium has bluish green foliage and spherical flower heads that measure 1/2 - 1 inch across that are made up of many small flowers. The overall appearance is rough and prickly, and the flower heads blooms from late summer through fall.

The Rattlesnake Master plant was used by American Indians and pioneers who thought the roots could be used as an effective antidote for a rattlesnake bite. However, there is no true medical benefit for snake bites.
