Sunflower Joker (Helianthus Annuus) - There is no joking about it, these bi-color Sunflowers are absolutely gorgeous! Grown from Joker Sunflower seeds, these annuals produce blooms that measure 6 - 8 inches in diameter. The unique flower head has outer petals that are long and thin and bright yellow from the tip to close to the base, where they abruptly turn deep red. The inner layer has a crested appearance, with very short, thin, tightly-packed, tufted petals that point straight up from the plant. What a lovely star burst pattern it has! Sunflower Uses: Sunflower Joker blooms are pollen-free too which makes them even better as cut flowers. The Sunflower plants are a good size for the back of the border as well as next to outbuildings. They are well-branched and develop new blooms over a long season giving a continuous supply for fresh arrangements. Sunflowers work well as a temporary screen, too!

Growing Joker Sunflower From Seed: Sunflowers are easy to grow from flower seeds. After danger of frost has passed, directly sow Joker Sunflower seeds into prepared seed beds that are weed free and the soil has been loosened. Space the Sunflower seeds 12 inches apart, cover the seed 1/2 inch deep, and thin the Sunflower seedlings to 24 inches apart.
