This perenial has finely-divided foliage that is gray-green in color and aromatic. In mid-summer, it produces many yellow flowers. Wormwood herb plants have a long history as a medicinal herb with use dating all the way back to the ancient Egyptians. In addition to medicinal use, Wormwood is most known for the liqueur absinthe.

Wormwood plants thrive in full sun and in soil that drains well. The plants may struggle in constantly wet soil.

• Start the Wormwood herb seeds indoors in starter trays
• Press the seeds into the soil but do not cover
• Keep the trays in a bright location but not direct sun
• Harden the seedlings off properly before transplanting out

• Once established, Wormwood plants require little care
• Fertilize once or twice a year
• If the plant wilts in the summer, trim back to revitalize
• Trimming and deadheading the flowers can prevent the plant from getting too leggy
• Harvest the stalks (the tender ones that are lighter green) and hang upside down in a ventilated place for drying
