Alyssum (Lobularia Maritima Paletta Mix) - These Alyssum drought tolerant plants are clump forming and the foliage is covered with masses of fragrant flowers. Paletta Mix can be established readily from Alyssum flower seeds, and it will bloom from spring through early fall. Lobularia Maritima grows to 4 inches in height. With its lovely honey fragrance, this delicate, re-seeding annual is an excellent choice for borders, containers, and xeriscaping.
Alyssum seeds can be started directly outside in prepared seedbeds. Alyssum is great in rock gardens and between flagstones where the flower seeds can be sown directly in crevices. Alyssum Paletta Mix is the perfect choice for a low-growing, attractive ground cover. Growing Alysum in well-draining soil is important as soggy soil is a sure way to rot the roots and plants are resistant to drought and do not need a lot of water. Alyssum plants can be rejuvenated by cutting them back, and within 4 weeks the plants should be bushy and blooming again.
